The Safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people is a priority for Encore. We take our responsibilities very seriously in this area.
All Encore staff, our self-employed Accredited Teachers, EYM tutors and freelance practitioners working in schools:
-
Have current Enhanced DBS clearance (renewed every three years)
-
Receive annual safeguarding training
-
Receive guidance on best practice to help safeguard young people and themselves
Office staff and managers have a variety of additional experience and training, including:
-
Safer recruitment
-
Multi-agency
-
HSCP & MASH
-
LADO
As the ‘appointing organisation,’ Encore Enterprises CIO takes full responsibility for ensuring the above policy and procedures. It is therefore neither necessary nor appropriate for schools to request personal/confidential information from our employees or Accredited Teachers. We are not able to pass on personal details of staff or Accredited Teachers to schools, but we are happy to provide the DBS disclosure dates and numbers to schools upon request.
All staff and Accredited Teachers are issued with an Encore Enterprises ID badge, which they are required to wear in schools at all times. To make it easier to identify our staff and teachers, we will be introducing branded lanyards.
Every school has a different safeguarding policy. So, whilst we have our own policies, we expect our staff and contractors to adhere to the policy of the school they are visiting (unless it raises their own safeguarding concerns).
We ask schools to ensure that all of our teachers who regularly work in your school know the name or names of staff who have specific responsibility for safeguarding.
Do you have a concern?
Everyone has a duty to report a concern, however small it may seem. If you have a safeguarding issue or concern regarding a member of Encore Enterprises staff, Accredited Teacher or freelance practitioner, or young person with whom we have contact, then please contact the Chief Executive Officer immediately. If they are not unavailable, then please advise a member of the office team that you have a ‘safeguarding concern’ and they will contact them.
We treat all concerns confidentially and as a priority.
